NEW COMICS WEDNESDAY- SEPTEMBER 21st

Well it's another busy week full of first issues. Unfortunately, a shipping mistake means 6 of the NEW DCU books from this weeks order will be delayed a week.

There will be plenty of the new Batman though. With Scott Snyder writing and Greg Capullo on art, it should be one of the best of the new titles so far. Brian Azzarellos take on Wonder Woman should be great too.
The epic novel turned hit T.V. show, Game of Thrones, makes it to the comic page. It's from Dynamite so it should be fairly close to the original material.

Marvel restarts Ultimate X-Men...again. I have to admit though, the relaunched Ultimate titles have all been great so far.

Thor Goes Hollywood, is a comic collecting all the various Thor variant covers from a couple of months ago.

Bad News - BADDER NEWS

Seriously, I'm starting to wonder if it was such a good idea to let that black cat chase me under a ladder carrying a broken mirror last Friday the 13th.
I've heard horror stories from other retailers over the years about how they missed shipments or lost orders through Diamond, and I always wondered what they were doing wrong. I guess I've just been lucky the last few years and now it's time to pay the karmic piper.
Bad enough the shortage on 2 of the NEW 52 titles this week, but it seems I'll be short on 6 of them next week. YES, 6 of the 13 DC first issues WILL NOT be on the shelves here next week(the 21st) due to some mix up on Diamonds part. The titles affected are,

Blue Beetle
Captain Atom
DC Universe Presents
Legion
Red Hood
and Supergirl

I don't really know what I can say about this other than to appeal to my regular customers to wait the extra week and pick up your books here rather than run to another store. I do understand the need to keep up with these new books as they come out, and that this would make a pretty big order for some of you the last week of the month, but I will try and make it up to you with an in-store discount or deal of some type.

And thats not the BADDER news.
Kellie, my long-time friend and manager here at the store has felt the need to move on to other things. I know its going to be rough around here for a while as I try to get used to doing even a fraction of the work that Kellie could do. If you think your orders were messed up every once in a while before,...just wait. We'll be lucky if this place isn't a smoking crater within a month.
Seriously, I wish Kellie the best of luck with her new job, and I know all of the regular gang and customers will really miss seeing her smiling face around the store.

Good News-Bad News

Well I'm sure we've all heard how quick the NEW DCU first issues are moving. More than half the titles released so far have already been announced as going to 2nd prints. (3rd printing for Justice League). The good news is, that here at Comics & More, there are still quite a few 1st prints of last weeks #'1s on the shelves at cover price. So far I've only sold out of Batgirl, Detective and yes Green Arrow!! Action #1 and Justice League #1 are both selling for premium prices other places, so if you still haven't snagged a copy for yourself or have a friend who wants one, you know where to go.

Now, the bad news.

Some kind of mess up with the delivery system has left me short on 2 of this weeks #1 issues. I only received about half my expected order on Mr. Terrific #1, and not even enough Grifter #1's to fill the pre-order packages. Diamond assures me that the missing comics will be in next weeks delivery, and hey the 3rd week is only 12 titles anyway, so it kind of balances out. As a compensation, anyone picking up their pre-order package 1 book light this week, will get a FREE copy of the Green Lantern #1 variant.

NEW COMICS - SEPTEMBER 14th

This weeks big NEW DCU releases include the highly anticipated and greatly delayed, Batwoman #1. Along with Batman and Robin,Green Lantern, and Frankenstein, this should be another week of quick sellouts. Myself, I can't wait to read the first new issue of Resurrection Man, probably one of my favourite all-time series to come out of the 90's.
DC isn't the only company relaunching characters. Dark Horse starts the season 9 series for Buffy. And Marvel restarts Ultimate Spider-Man one more time. Lets hope the 3rd times the charm.
Image gives us something a little different with Pigs. A story about a covert sleeper cell of KGB agents being reactivated.

NEW COMICS WEDNESDAY -SEPTEMBER 7th

The holiday Monday will NOT affect delivery of this weeks comics.
NEW COMICS ARRIVE WEDNESDAY AS USUAL.

Well the NewDCU gets into full swing with 13 first issues this week.
Theres a lot of buzz on several of them, but of course it will be tough to see anything outsell the appeal of owning an Action #1. It will never be worth the $1 million of the original, but with Grant Morrison writing, I guarantee it will be a better read.
Batgirl looks good as well, Gail Simone never fails to deliver, and most of us just want to see her explain how Babs got out of her chair.
Jeff Lemires Animal Man arrives as well, and he delivers a great, creepy, Vertigo style superhero tale. Also on the Vertigo horror end of the NewDCU, Swamp Thing #1. Scott Snyder has been picking up fans with every title he's done, and I can't think of anyone better suited to write Swampy's new adventures.

NEW DCU

Well the New DCU is off to a great start with the announcement that Justice League #1 has sold out and a 2nd printing is on the way. I still have copies of the first print available, at least for now. The news of the sellout has people calling around to get their hands on one before they are gone for good. If you have any interest in owning a 2nd print copy, make sure to let me know as I am not planning to order any until/when, the 1st prints sell through completely.
Just a warning that Action #1 arrives next Wednesday along with 12 other first issues. If you haven't already reserved a copy, make sure to do it soon.

Events wrap-up

Well saying I'm a little tired right now would be an understatement. The 4 days of Fanexpo were exhausting, but in a good way. Probably the busiest I've seen the show since it started.
The promoters really stepped up and solved a lot of the problems of the previous year. The only major line-ups to worry about this year, were the line-ups for the cash machines.
Even in the midst of selling literally 1,000's of paperbacks over the weekend, I still had a few minutes to occasionally talk to some new customers, including a guy who apparently lives just down the street from the store, AND HAS NEVER BEEN INSIDE. Well after stopping by for the midnight sale last night, I'm hoping he'll become a regular, now that he knows how convenient it is having a store less than a 10 minute walk from his home.
Speaking of the midnight sale...I was surprised how many night owls are in the area. At one point just before midnight, there was close to 2 dozen people in the store, and they cleaned out a good chunk of the paperback shelves. In 1 hour I sold more copies of Justice League #1 than 2 months worth of the previous incarnation of the title.
The only downer of the night was when Gail Simone called to wish me luck with the DC 52 launch, and I was soooo out of it, that I basically said "thanks" and hung up.
I'd like to publicly thank her for the call and say that her Birds of Prey is one of my favourite all time reads and I am eagerly awaiting her new titles Batgirl and Firestorm.
If I actually wake up in time to open the store at a normal hour tomorrow, Ill try and post my thoughts on the newest issue of Previews.
