Just a quick round-up of this weeks DC Villains issues.
Like last week, most of the titles are origin and flashback type stories, with only a few actually tying in or leading up to current continuity.
Aquaman/Black Manta, takes place in current time and gives us a better look at some of the chaos unleashed in Forever Evil. Actions taken, may lead Black Manta in a different direction than first thought. His story continues in Forever Evil and future issues of Aquaman.
Batman /Riddler, was excellent, and definitely a must read for current Batman Zero Year readers.
Detective Comics /Harley Quinn, gives us the origin of Harleys new look costume.
..NO..seriously!! Matt Kindt knocks another one out of the park as he leads up to his run on Suicide Squad beginning with issue #24.
Justice League/Lobo, has nothing to do with Justice League at all. This is a one-shot story about the NEW Lobo, who seems to be hunting the current, better known version. The book reads well and seems interesting, I'm just not sure its a direction anyone really asked for. His next appearance would seem to be in Supergirl of all things.
Flash/Reverse Flash gives us the origin of yet another Reverse Flash(3 now or is it 4).
A good read overall, that runs off events in the first 2 years of Flash and leads directly into Flash #24.

NEW COMICS SEPT. 11th
Week 2 of Villain month at DC looks strong, and Marvel launches another Avengers title.
We saw quite a few early sellouts on certain Evil issues this week, but considering the hype, we still have stock on many of the 3D issues. Next week looks about the same with a few books shipping short and almost impossible to find on most comic store shelves.
Marvel launches the Mighty Avengers #1, hyped as the all minority team, with a mystery Spider-Man in the background who may either be the Ultimates version or possibly the Spider-Man of 2099, both of whom have recently entered the main Marvel Universe.
Also new at Marvel is Infinity Hunt #1, which should tie in with the Infinity crossover, but instead sounds like a separate mini-series similar in style to the old Contest of Champions, only featuring teen heroes. Not sure how many will be left after Avengers Arena wraps, but with Matt Kindt
writing, we're in for a great story.
Kings Watch is new Dynamite series featuring classic newspaper characters in a team setting. The Phantom, Flash Gordon and Mandrake the Magician will be written by Jeff Parker who has done a great job in the past on books like Marvel Advs. Avengers, and Atlas.

Scary Godmother Kickstarter
Just made aware of a great Kickstarter campaign. I'm not normally a fan of said projects because a lot of them take the approach of "screw retailers, I want all the moneys myself ".
But this one is so cool, and Jill Thompson is a wonderful, talented lady who deserves to see these things made, as much as your kids deserve to have one for themselves.
Check out the Scary Godmother doll kickstarter for yourself.

NEW COMICS WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 4th
Well this is it, the beginning of Forever Evil and the start of DC's villain month.
ALL the regular DC 52 titles in September will be replaced by Villain comics.
This means a lot of your regular books will not be available at all, while others will have 2-3 issues, each featuring a different bad guy.( for instance, Batgirl will be replaced by Dark Knight #23.1, The Ventriloquist).
Adding to the confusion is the 3D and 2D covers. The books will all ship with 2 versions, although the 3D editions will be limited.
When placing orders on-line or by return e-mail, please mention which version you would like, taking note that the 3D editions cost a buck more, and I will have to fill orders on a first come first served system. I will however give preference to customers who regularly order the titles in question over someone just picking up that 1 issue for the cool cover.
Its going to be a confusing month, but I hope fun at the same time as we learn more about old and new villains across the DCU.

The Batman Inc. Special #1 is a one-shot anthology of a sorts, telling short stories of the various bat-heroes who were featured in Batman Inc. All of the heroes are there including Mr.Unknown, Knight and Squire, Raven Red, Man-of-Bats, Nightrunner, Dark Ranger, El Gaucho, and everyone's favorite bovine crime fighter, Bat Cow.
The bulk of the anthology is not set in continuity, though the Knight and Squire story does take place after Batman Incorporated issue 6. NEW COMICS AUGUST 28th
Busy week as we wrap up August.
The regular American Vampire is still on hiatus, but this week we get an Anthology Special with 8 short stories by some fan favourites like Simone and Lemire.
Speaking of over-sized specials, this week we get the Batman Inc. Special. Chock full of stories about the Bat associates, including Bat-Cow herself!
For the kids(in all of us) try Itty Bitty Hellboy. A great all-ages comic by the guys who brought us Tiny Titans. The characters may not be as familiar to the kids, but the cuteness will draw them in.
Collider #1 sold out fast, but the #2 may be hard to spot as the title has been changed to FBP- Federal Bureau of Physics. Must have been someone using the other title already. You think they'd check for stuff like that in the development stages.
Overtaken is a new title by creator and Aspen co-owner Frank Mastromauro. Along with artist Marco Lorenzana, brings an investigative sci-fi edge to "Overtaken," a series which puts an extraterrestrial spin on missing persons cases. " Hey its only a buck for the first issue so try it out.
Justice League #23 is the final chapter of the Trinity War, and a hell of a ride its been. Do the Leaguers actually die at the end? And just what triggers the aftermath of Forever Evil?
