NEW COMICS WEDNESDAY- FEBRUARY 24th

Well I knew the last week of the month would be a little busier, but this is ridiculous. Its a massive amount of material to fill the "new" comics shelves with. Only one book thats a first issue worth mentioning though.
Captain Swing is another Ellis title from Avatar. This one looks to be in a "Steampunk" universe and the art looks really sharp, if you can judge them by the covers.
Archie #606 is a wrap-up to the 6-parter, Archies Future, storyline. Its not numbered as part of the story though, so some fans might miss this one.
Hey, Flash Rebirth #6 finally arrives. I was afraid Blackest Night would wrap up before this did.
Speaking of Blackest Night, Green Arrow #30 features the zombie Green Arrow.

NEW COMICS WEDNESDAY - FEB.17th

It looks like a pretty average week, with next to no "new" books to mention. But February is sort of a transition month, as the big 2 end off/cancel titles to make room for the new spring line.
Doomwar #1 sounds interesting, although putting it out at this time makes it feel like a
Seige tie-in.
A couple of guest writer issues to note, Supergirl #50 has a back-up story written by "Supergirl" herself, Helen Slater.
And Tiny Titans #25 (one of the funnest comics on the shelves every month)welcomes writer Geoff Johns, who brings Superboy and Match with him.

NEW COMICS WEDNESDAY- FEB. 10th

Another decent, if light week.
Hit-Monkey spins off or ties in somehow with the recent issue of Deadpool. I'm not sure what else I can say about that.
Human Target, the Vertigo comic turned T.V. series is now back to a comic.
The Pet Avengers get a special leading up to their regular on-going title.
And the latest replacement for Kitty Pryde, Pixie, gets a mini-series.

Hellblazer Pandemonium is an original hardcover graphic novel celebrating the 25th anniversary of Vertigo's resident bad boy mystic.
Hey look at that beautiful cover to Adventure Comics #7. It must have taken the artist days to draw that one.

NEW COMICS WEDNESDAY-FEBRUARY 3rd

Another good week, good start to Feb.
Marvel continues to repopulate their Ultimate Universe with Ultimate X. Looks like the mutants are back to school, judging by the cover.
Son of Hulk joins the Realm of Kings with a 4 issue mini.
Fans of Brian Wood(Northlanders and DMZ),will be happy to see the return of Demo, with the first of 6 stand alone stories.
And the Twilight saga(not that one), starts in Buffy.

NEW COMICS WEDNESDAY-JAN. 27th

Well its the end of another month and you know what that means. LOTS of comics. And it seems like half of them have 2 covers.
Red Hulk gets the first of a 4-parter in the Fall of the Hulks crossover.
Astro City starts the last 4 parter of the Dark Age storyline(it seems like this story started like 5-6 years ago, or is it just me?)
The Ultimates Comics relaunches continue with Enemy #1.
Green Lantern hits #50, with an extra-sized issue of course, as the Blackest Night continues.
Speaking of Blackest Night, the Atom/Hawkman issue will move fast.
Seige-Storming Asgard sounds like one of those handbook or secret files type items, with lots of text and very little "comic" to read.
Captain America Reborn #6 finally arrives, better late than never I guess.
Of course the Archie's weddings Part 6 comes in the same day,(and will outsell Cap by about 4-1, at least at my store).
And yes, Kick-Ass #8 is actually arriving, finally. Not the latest book ever, but it was starting to creep up there. Still not sure why the Marvel website has it down as shipping Feb. 17th though.

FCBD 2010

It's still more than 3 months away, that glorious day of the year when we get to celebrate all that we love in what we love to read. But now is the time to start getting ready. As some of you may know(but many don't) comics are ordered months in advance of their on-sale date. I am currently compiling my orders for books arriving in April, and this includes the FCBD comics.

Free Comic Book Day 2010, Saturday May 1st. Mark it on your calendar, and remind all your friends, especially any with kids.

Free Comic Book Day is indeed a celebration of comics in all their forms, for anyone of any age. But here at Comics & More, it's mostly about the kids. Nothing makes me happier than that look on a little kids face when they get a comic in their hands and their eyes open wide at the colourful characters living between the covers.

The 2010 FCBD event has more great all-ages titles available than ever before. All the usual gang will be present, Archie of course with a summer fun special. Sonic the Hedgehog (celebrating over 200 issues) will go quick. Iron Man will be a popular book, what with the 2nd movie coming out the weekend after. The DC kids title gives a great sample of the various kid-friendly versions of their characters.

This year adds a few new titles to the batch. Shrek will star in a freebie with the Penguins of Madagascar, Toy Story will be another favourite I'm sure. Totally out of left field Archaia press gives us a flip-book with the excellent Mouse Guard and Fraggle Rock.

They all look great, and these books along with many more will be given away absolutely FREE on Saturday MAY 1st.

Teachers and Librarians are encouraged to call or E-mail me to get in an order for any copies they would like to add to their school library or reading program.

NEW COMICS WEDNESDAY-JAN.20th

Another well-balanced week, without a ton of books all featuring the same characters.
The Agents of Atlas continue to wander the Marvel Universe as they go up against the Avengers for a few issues.
DC ships a few more Blackest Night revivals, Phantom Stranger and Starman. The Phantom Stranger issue features a host of other "magical" DC universe characters including Deadman and Blue Devil. The Starman has Robinson penning what could be the last Shade story.

Vertigo gives us another $1.00 comic as Joe the Barbarian #1 ships. I'm not sure why they think this one needs the buck book promotion, Grant Morrison has enough of a fan base to give it a solid start.

Wildstorm starts off another Supernatural mini-series, if they used this photo cover for the whole print run rather than only 10% of them, it would probably sell a lot better.
