Sweet Tooth signing

Well the Jeff Lemire signing went rather well. Still a little under attended, but got to see some new faces as well as quite a few regulars.
I'd like to congratulate the winner of the page of original Sweet Tooth art.

Jeff left us a couple of copies of his sketchbook to sell as well. These little gems are full of samples of his stuff and some great character designs as well( I love his Doom Patrol). You can pick one up while they last for only $10.00.
Don't forget that this Saturday and Sunday is our 24th anniversary sale, and despite the forecast, we are planning on putting some tables full of 24 cent comics out front.

NEW COMICS WEDNESDAY - JUNE 15th

The real Alpha Flight #1 arrives(and will probably sell just as fast as the 0.1 did)
Deadman and the Flying Graysons will be the top seller from the Flashpoint list this week, although Wonder Woman will be a close 2nd. The Grodd issue is a one-shot and doesn't come with a free pin.
Walking Dead vol.14 arrives, and within a week, I'll have a dozen people asking me when vol. 15 will get here.
Godzilla ahs only been back in comics for a few months, and he gets a spin-off already. Godzilla Gangsters and Goliaths #1, will be just the first of many monster mini-series I'm sure.

NEW COMICS WEDNESDAY- JUNE 8TH

Another busy week as 4 more Flashpoints start, and Marvel ships a couple of Fear itself minis.
American Vampire is doing well enough that a spin-off mini series was obvious.
The Amazing Spider-Man Ghost Rider book is just a reprint of the back-up stories from recent Amazing Spider-Man comics.
The Mini Hulks comic is just reprints too, but well worth the price, should sell well to the Tiny Titans crowd.
Iron Age Alpha, is the start of a crossover story featuring Iron Man thrown back in time when the Phoenix destroys the world.( I wonder if he will alter time while he's back there and reset the entire Marvel Universe back to issue #1's)
I'd say something about Mystery Men, except Marvel won't tell us anything other than its about characters from the '40's.(and they stole the name from Bob Burden).
Hey Supreme Power is starting again... its only 4 issues this time, so it might actually finish.

WEDNESDAYs COMICS

There was no interruption of delivery from the American holiday on Monday, so the comics are all here and ready to fly off the shelves at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow.

Flashpoint takes off at lightspeed this week, with the first 4 spin-off titles.
Flashpoint Batman is the one most connected to the events occurring in the main title, but all 4 are great and seem to be readable on their own. I love the map of the world that they are running in the various titles. Frankly I'm surprised the Earth is still around at all, seeing how many times the now non-existent JLA and friends have had to save it from cosmic catastrophe over the years.

Don't forget to grab a copy of Sweet Tooth and/or Superboy this week, to bring to the Jeff Lemire signing on the 8th.

Jeff has graciously donated a page of original artwork to be given away in a raffle.

Anyone buying a copy of Sweet Tooth vol.3 next Wednesday, is eligible to win.

Hard to believe that its been 24 years since I first opened the store ,(then again, some days it feels like twice that).
If it seems like my anniversary sale is a little early this year, you're right.
The Danforth Business Assoc. has set up a street wide sidewalk sale for the weekend of JUNE 10-12th, and I thought I would take advantage of the extra traffic and hold my sale the same weekend. Hopefully the weather will co-operate and allow me to roll out a ton of stock this time around. There should be rows of tables out front, packed with paperbacks for $5.00 a piece and hardcovers as low as 3 for $25.00.
AND of course the phenomenal 24 cent back issue boxes. 1000's of near mint unread comics, individually bagged at only 24 cents each.
To top it off, ALL regular priced items in the store will be 24% off.

Helping to kick-off the anniversary event, super talented writer/artist Jeff Lemire will be in the store on WEDNESDAY JUNE 8th, FROM 4-7 p.m., signing copies of the latest volume of Sweet Tooth, and the first issue of his Flashpoint mini-series, FRANKENSTEIN AND THE CREATURES OF THE UNKNOWN.
The first 25 copies sold will receive a FREE Flashpoint Frankenstein logo pin.

NEW COMICS WEDNESDAY- JUNE 1st

Wow, it's certainly going to be busy in here next Wednesday. Its a good old fashioned battle of the summer events.
We'll be getting the 3rd issue of Fear Itself the same day as the 2nd Flashpoint issue.
And Flashpoint has the first 4 #'1 issues of their X-Over arriving as well.
The 4 of them are probably the highest profile ones as well. The Batman by Azzarello and Risso, Secret Seven by Milligan and Perez, and the Abin Sur and World of Flashpoint storylines are both pretty essential reading.
Of course they aren't the only #1's on the shelf, as Brubaker starts a new arc on Criminal, Marvel's SHIELD returns, and another Hellboy mini starts.
