Just a quick note to let you all know that I will be closed on Sunday October 11th, I plan on having a nice family day and Thanksgiving dinner with close friends.

YUMMY turkey.. I'd eat it every week if I could cook.

NEW COMICS WEDNESDAY- SEPTEMBER 30th

Due to the fact that there is 5 Wednesdays in September, this weeks list looks a little thin. Don't get me wrong, there's still a lot of good stuff coming in. Green Lantern continues the Blackest Night storyline, probably one of the best selling events DC has run in years. A new issue of Thor, better late than never. And of course 3-4 X-Men books.

Not much new in the first issue department however.

Astro City starts a 2-parter based on the youngest member of the First Family(Busieks version of the Fantastic Four), Astra is all growed up now and graduating from college.

The Justice League 80-page giant seems like a blast from the past, a massive story where the team splits up into pairs to fight various bad guys in different time eras.

Speaking of blast from the past, Spider-Man gets back in touch with his other self in the Spider-Man Clone Saga. Sounds from the description like Marvel has come up with a way to retell the story from a different perspective which I'm guessing will allow the return of the clone to current storylines. I have always said that the clone story wasn't a bad idea, it was the stupidity of trying to convince the readers that the clone was the real Peter and the character we had all been reading for 20 years was actually a clone. All in an attempt to un-marry Peter and Mary Jane.

Well the marriage thing isn't an issue any more so welcome back the clone everyone.

It might be a good thing the shelves will be a little light next week as a couple of high profile collections come out.

Buffy Season 8 volume 5 arrives, and will sell even quicker than usual, judging by all the regulars who have decided to switch over to the books and save the trouble of stopping in once a month for the floppies.

Fables finally gets the hardcover treatment as DC /Vertigo starts to collect the on-going series in a set of deluxe books, each one collecting 2 of the regular paperbacks.

NEW COMICS WEDNESDAY- SEPTEMBER 23rd

Marvel finally gets around to finishing the Old Man Logan storyline started in Wolverine almost a year ago. Originally meant to appear in issue 75 of the regular title it is now an over-size Special, boasting pin-ups and a cover gallery to justify the $5.00 cover price. I bet there are still fans out there, confused over the whole renumbering thing thinking they just missed out on the last part somehow and have been searching for this"missing" issue for months now. Looks like it'll be a slam-bang action issue featuring one of the classics, HulkVS.Wolverine.

Another "late" book is arriving this week as well. Spider-Woman #1 was originally listed to arrive on April 1st, and when a few weeks went by with no sight of the thing, I just assumed it was some lame April Fool's joke. But here it is at last, although the impact of her adjusting to life after the Skrull invasion will be a little diminished since most of us have forgotten all that by now. And hey, she's an agent of S.W.O.R.D now, rather than S.H.I.E.L.D., so I guess that will be an important plot point.

X-Men and Dark Reign titles take up some space on the shipping list this week. Speaking of lists, Osborn turns his eye to the X-Men in this weeks List issue. If you've been missing these, its because they are selling even better than I expected. The Avengers issue of the List was a no-brainer, but the Daredevil issue last week even surprised me as it not only stood as a Dark Reign event issue, but was a solid set-up to the new Daredevil storyline starting in issue #501. I'm expecting The List-X-Men to sell out quick this week as it continues directly from the Dark Avenger/Uncanny X-Men crossover, Utopia. Dark X-Men Confession will move quick as well as fans want to "listen" in as Emma brings Scott up to date on the whole Cabal thing she's been involved in all these months.

Secret Origin is an odd title for the Superman mini-series launching this week. I'm sure there won't be any real surprises involved as Geoff Johns spells out the current "definitive" origin of the man of steel. Most of it will be basically tying together events from the last year of Superman and Action issues with developments from Final Crisis and the Legion. Still it looks like it will be a good solid read and Gary Frank's art is easy on the eyes.

Finally, you know Halloween is close when the Bart Simpson's Treehouse of Horror Special arrives. This years effort,#15, promises to deliver the same edgy, indy style artwork and bad taste that every one of the previous issues had. Still, I can't help but wonder what kids actually see in these things as they are clearly intended for a more mature, well-seasoned reader.

A lot of Marvels titles will feature Super-Hero Squad related variant covers this month. 3-4 arrive this week. While these won't be included in the sale, I will be putting out quite a few other variants comics that have built up over the last year, some may look familiar while others not so much. The sale will not start until FRIDAY, but you can see the books that will be included in the sale as I start loading up the walls of the store Wednesday morning. REMEMBER, only RED TAG comics on the wall will be 50% off, no books will be put aside or saved, or sold at a discount prior to FRIDAY morning Sept. 25th.

WEEKEND SALE

This weekend's sale is on Marvel Essentials. I have a batch of these left-over from the convention, and they are out on the front table of the store for only $10.00 each. or 3/$25.00.
That's a lot of great reading for very little money. The sale starts today and ends on Sunday.
NEXT weekends sale will be on variant cover comics.
Marvel has been doing a lot of these lately and I have a pretty good selection of comics from the last half year or so. I'll put out as many as I can next week, and starting on Friday Sept. 25th. running till Sunday 27th, they will all be 50% off. Most of these are priced from $8.00-$20.00 but at half price, many will be about the same as a new regular comic. Even if you aren't someone who cares about variant art versions, you may see an issue you need to fill in a hole in your collection.
Remember, as with each of the weekend sales, only books specifically marked with a RED TAG, are included in the sale pricing.

NEW COMICS WEDNESDAY(YES, WEDNESDAY)- SEPTEMBER 9TH

Well with all the excitement of last weeks convention over, it'll be nice to sit back and enjoy a nice quite week of new comics.
Wait! What do you mean school starts back next Tuesday?
Well lets hope there's some comic fans mixed in with this years crop of delinquents.

Nice mixed week with some good regular titles and not too many first issues to clog the shelves.

The big #1 this time around is Dark Reign the List-Avengers. This is the first of the one-shots where Norman Osborn starts hunting down the heroes who've been the biggest thorns in his side since his rise to power. I have to admit, that I've been enjoying the Dark Reign stuff, and can't

wait to see how it all ends.

DC's answer to Captain America, The Shield, gets a regular series, with a back-up of The Inferno.

Hopefully these characters will integrate into the DC system without clogging up an already hero heavy roster. Marvel decides to add to its flag waving heroes by re-introducing the female Bucky character from the Heroes Reborn universe. I trust Brubaker has firm plans for her.

Marvel brings out some even older characters when putting together Models Inc. Millie and Chili the models had their own titles back in the '50's and early 60's, before the underwear crowd started monopolizing everything. Patsy Walker is a little more familiar to most of us in her "hero" identity of Hellcat.

The Marvel Super-Hero Squad may look familiar, because the logo shows up on the front corner of almost every Marvel comic this month. Not really appropriate in some cases, but you can't fault Marvel for trying to upsell a new Kid-friendly comic. Besides, they're the kind of cutesy characters that Marvels new owners must love.

Speaking of Kid-friendly, the 2nd volume of Amulet finally arrives, to the shrieks of school age children everywhere. If your kids loved Bone and Harry Potter, do yourself a favour and get them a copy of Amulet, chances are they have already been bugging you for it.

SWEET TOOTH

I can't believe I didn't find time to talk about the first issue of Sweet Tooth arriving today. Part of Vertigo's buck book promotion, I still would have sold a load of these at a regular $3.00 price, but for a dollar, no one has an excuse to pass on this one.
The only problem I have is that most of my copies have writing on the front of them...OH WAIT! that's Jeff Lemire's autograph.
Jeff was nice enough to spend a few minutes of his time this morning to personally sign a few dozen copies.

NEW COMICS - SEPT.2nd

I was a little busy getting set for the convention last week and didn't have time for my usual round-up of Wednesdays new comics. To compound things I messed up a few titles, listing them under the wrong weeks in my haste.
2 of the bigger titles arriving Tomorrow(not on the 9th) are Batman#690 and Greek Street #3. I'd suggest checking out the full list of comics arriving as seen on the Comics & More website here.
